Intercrop is able to offer between 2 – 4 industrial placements each year. These are offered to students studying for an agricultural/horticultural sandwich degree or HND course.

Intercrop offers only the most motivated and ambitious individuals the opportunity to work at Intercrop and gain valuable skills and knowledge to further their development in their chosen career path.

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Intercrop is an Investor in People (IIP) accredited organisation. Intercrop aims to ensure that their employees develop both the technical skills and professional knowledge to remain at the forefront of their field.  This is achieved with an Annual Appraisal which is used to identify training needs.

INDUCTION
All new employees participate in a comprehensive Induction Programme to the organisation enabling them to gain an understanding of the business and the role they will fulfil. 

SOCIAL CLUB
The Social Club at Intercrop plays a significant role in maintaining a good employee management relationship.  The social club meets on a regular basis to organise social occasions such as trips to Alton Towers and Ten Pin Bowling, BBQ’s and fun days.  This is an opportunity for all employees to get to know each other outside of the workplace; this contributes to understanding between employees and team building.

CONCORDIA INFORMATION
The accommodation is in mobile homes sleeping 4 per home. (Accommodation is available for 2 couples)  Each home has a living area, with heater as well as a kitchen area with a large cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooking pans and cutlery. Also there is a washing machine with a drying area and a central television. A sports field is available for outdoor recreation. There is a BBQ, some bicycles and the internet may be accessed by arrangement with the employer.  Students must provide and cook their own food and ensure the kitchen and living area is kept clean and tidy.

Damage: Students have a responsibility to keep the living areas clean and tidy. Normal wear and tear will be taken into account, but willful damage to property must be paid for by the student/s responsible, and may be deducted from wages.

ACCOMMODATION CHARGES:
Rent: £30.00 per week
There is a damage deposit of £50.00. This may be returned to you at the end on the condition that the accommodation is left clean, tidy and no damage or theft has occurred.  This is upon the discretion of the employer. There is a productivity bonus paid for harvest workers, if you leave before the end of the work period for which you have been booked, you will not receive this bonus.

WORKING CONDITIONS AT INTERCROP LTD

Type of work:
The work available at the farm includes the following:

  • Outdoor lettuce and herb harvesting with some planting.
  • May also involve packing salad products.

The actual work you will be doing will depend both upon the time of year and farmer's specific requirements.

Days when work may be available - 6 days a week.
